For example Aiur Chef, I believe, came out of Jason Huck looking through the list of new art that the artists had created. They’d created a number of fruits and vegetables, soccer balls, a whole bunch of stuff that we had no idea what we would do with, but it seemed like good generic stuff the fans could use. We were thinking probably more in terms of like a Pac-Man power up, stuff like that. And so he said “What can I make with this?” and then the pun popped into his head and he was off to the races with this party game that was also kind of this competitive crafting game as well.
We don’t have any sort of “secret mods” that we’re developing at this point, most of the team is focused on Heart of the Swarm. We are planning on releasing a bunch of new maps for StarCraft II for the multiplayer experience to address a lot of issues that are fans have raised wth the current map pool, so hopefully that’ll be happening in the next few weeks. We’re also planning on releasing at some point in the near future, some more of the challenge maps that are still being worked on in people’s spare time inside the studio, and get some more content into the hands of the fans. Blizzard DotA is something we’re definitely actively pursuing, we’ve got a small – but very dedicated, very enthusiastic! – group of people working on Blizzard DotA and trying to make it a very polished experience.
games.on.net: Any comment on that leaked video which was supposedly the ending cinematic for Heart of the Swarm?
Dustin: (laughs) We don’t comment on rumours or speculation, so… no. Sorry.
games.on.net: Will any of the decisions made in Wings of Liberty campaign carry over to Heart of the Swarm? For example, choosing to support Nova over Tosh?
Dustin: This is a really interesting question! I gotta tell you, we have picked canon, ultimately, for the game. So if you look at the DVD that comes with the game it tells you which one we’ve picked as the canon, but we are still talking about this and I don’t honestly know what will end up happening. There’s a lot of enthusiasm on the team for being able to access your save file and to give you access to the choices you made, to have an effect on some things that go on in the universe. Obviously for Heart of the Swarm and Sarah Kerrigan – a lot of these characters, she doesn’t have a lot of interaction with, like there’s not a lot of enthusiasm for Kerrigan to deal with somebody so low-down in the totem-pole of the StarCraft universe as a Doctor Hansen or a Gabriel Tosh.
